Allow me to introduce myself………..I was born in the mid 40´s in the south of Sweden . Being an only child, fantasy and imagination was the daily ingredients in my life. I was left handed and when I started school it was the first year that left handed children were allowed to write with the - wrong – hand
At the age of nine we moved to a small town by the Baltic Sea . It was the house of my late grandparents and somewhat special because my grandfather had been a rope maker and when he died my grandmother continued the work during 25 years.
Close to the sea and nature, I spend a lot of time in the hills and among the trees, waiting to see the elves and fairies dance, the little people sitting on the mushroom balconies hanging on the tree trunks. The wind lady used to whisper in my ear, the mighty sea spirit splashed my feet when I walked along the beach hoping to find a treasure of any kind.I hade a dog, a cat, hamsters, guinea pigs, white mice, a tame crow and a cemetery for passed away bumble bees.
During the summer holidays I worked in the tourist information which was run by my mother, and so my eyes opened for the rest of the world.
After my first journey to Spain I knew I wanted to become a guide. I came to Nice , France to study French, met my husband to be, got married and raised three children.
I continued in my world of elves, made various soft pets for my children, played role games with them, and introduced my son to the snake club. As a result our home also became the home of one snake, an enormous toad, walking sticks and an unknown number of other creatures.
Today my children have spread all over the globe. One daughter lives in the USA , the other one 1200 km north of where I live, my son lives in Australia . I have four fantastic grandchildren and two bonus daughters on the part of my husband since 14 years.
Now I live again in the rope maker's house and walk along the sea………
Two years ago Kerstin, a good friend of mine, got a beautiful little book for Christmas. It was a book by Ayala Talpai about needle felting. Both of us had carded wool just waiting to be used. For about two months we did nothing but needle felting. Then one day I really felt that here is a way to make all my fantasies come alive. As the little trolls and gnomes took shape, I wanted to share them with others.
The basement of my house which my mother had turned into an art gallery had been unused and empty for some years. Now it was my turn to fill it with my handicraft and also the ones of my girlfriend.
It is never too late to start something a new! I often say that I was born curious, because if you never ask, you'll never know. I ‘m also positive by nature, no matter how bad, there is always a good part somewhere! |
